Public transportation is probably easier than at Debi Richter's home. Bus #42 stops right across the street on Spruce St. (folks downtown can pick it up on Walnut St. Bus #21 stops two blocks away on Walnut (get off at 46th St. and walk South to Spruce). Trolley #34 comes down Baltimore Ave to 46th St. (walk North about 6 blocks to Spruce). The Market St. El/Subway 46th St. Stop on Market St. is now open (walk South about 5 blocks to Spruce). However, I would not recommend using the Subway once it gets dark.

Driving is pretty straight forward. Take one of two exits on the Schuykill Expressway (Rt. 76): 30th St. Station or South St. Do NOT take the University City exit which is dreadfully congested due to construction.

Choice 1) Traveling from West to East, do NOT take Rt. 676 to Center City; DO follow Rt. 76 toward the Airport and immediately get off at 30th St. Turn right off the ramp and right again at the first traffic light BEFORE you get to Market St. This circles around and brings you back to Market St. at 31st St. Turn right onto Market to 44th St. Turn left onto 44th and right onto Spruce.

Choice 2) Traveling the same way, wait to get off until you go under 30th St. Station and exit from the LEFT LANE. Turn right at the top of the ramp. This is on the South Street Bridge. South Street turns into Spruce Street (stay in the left lane to continue onto Spruce; the right lane is for turning onto 33rd St.).

Choice 3) Traveling from South or North on Rt. 95, get onto Rt. 76 West somewhere near the Walt Whitman Bridge (if you go on 76 East, you will be crossing the Bridge to NJ. Of course, if you are coming from NJ, you might want to cross the Walt Whitman Bridge going West). Exit left at South St. Turn left at the ramp and follow the directions above. Or Exit right at 30th St. Station. Go straight at the top of the ramp and left onto Market St and follow the directions above.

Parking is not easy because of the students, but not impossible either because it is summertime.

I don't have air conditioning; I do have two powerful (but quiet) ceiling fans and they seem to make my living room comfortable enough.

I have had 20 people in my living room just recently. 5 more than that would stretch us in terms of chairs more than in terms of space.  I have a sofa, two comfy chairs, 5 wooden chairs and 12 fold up chairs = 22 sitting spaces, plus one rocking chair. I can bring 5 chairs from upstairs. I can move the sofa back against the wall and expand the circle to cover the whole room. It worked recently. The lighting is fine, too.
